A fellow golfer recommended the restaurant and I'm so glad I followed it up. The warmth of the welcome and generosity of the amuse-bouches were remarkable. Everything had a poignant taste and texture. Molte grazie.

We discovered The Oystercatcher by chance and have revisited many times since. It is a real hidden gem for foodies with an eclectic and imaginative menu both for dinner and breakfast that lifts your heart. The food is lovingly prepared and exquisitely presented which makes dining here, especially for a special occasion a real treat. The wine and drinks menu is also a labour of love and the well chosen cellar will not disappoint. If you decide to stay you will also discover a tranquil haven with every comfort you desire. The breakfast is a real gourmet experience and beats every 5 star hotel hands down ! I would like to be selfish and keep this place secret but I cannot recommend it highly enough.

A dining experience, not to be missed. Always to be complimented with a few "nips" after the meal

Being from New York, this was my first visit to Scotland and a wonderful way to celebrate New Year's Day. The food was excellent, and the service was superb. You really felt like you were visiting family here! I couldn't imagine a more beautiful setting with a gorgeous view of the sea and wonderful food I can't wait to come here again someday.
P.S. I especially liked the popping candy on the sorbet!

I came to find the Oystercatcher just by chance, driving up from Inverness and randomly looking just for a place to dine and sleep, but Portmahomack itself and your place specifically bewitched me so intensely that that same night i asked my girlfriend to marry me. She was also bewitched, for what i can tell, and somehow her mouth was sealed in bewilderment, looking in my eyes sweetly as she could be. Now she is married to an englishboy and lives happily in the South, close to Southampton... I go on with my life in the north of Spain, and have dreamed of coming back to the Oystercatcher, to Portmahomack (and why not, to that night) too many times. Honeytaste memories...(and savoury smoked fish)

Lunch

Get there early as you need plenty of time to decide which of the wonderful dishes you are going to eat. Oysters were fresh and luscious, tasting of the sea. Sole florentine was sensational but the Hearty portion was a challenge. The only disappointment was that the bottle of wine we chose was not to temperature when it came to the table.

Spend a lovely evening at the Oystercatcher. A lovely warm welcome. The service and attention to detail was amazing. The food was outstanding both for dinner and breakfast. We stayed overnight in one of the rooms which was delightful. I could not recommend this place highly enough and would return again in the blink of an eye to try something else from the menu. I suspect that there is nothing about the food, service and facilities which could disappoint. A real gem in Easter Ross. Many thanks to our hosts.

19 years ago, I lived in Portmahomack and have very fond memories of buying chips on a cold day at the Oystercatcher, served with mayonnaise and ketchup! I now live in California and still think of Ross-Shire often.
